Rosedale Technical College recently hosted 48 high school students from career training centers in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area for this year’s SkillsUSA District 8 Regional Competition.
SkillsUSA is a national organization that partners with over 300,000 students, teachers and industry workers annually to serve as an advocate for specialized career training to ensure America has a skilled workforce for the future. The organization has 13,000 school chapters in 54 state and territorial associations.
As part of the competition, students participated in hands-on skills tests in areas of automotive, diesel, electrical, HVAC and welding. In addition, they also competed in a series of soft skills assessments.
Students who won their test categories during the competition have earned a berth to the state competition, which will take place April 13-15 in central Pennsylvania in Lebanon and Hershey to compete with students from eastern and central Pennsylvania.
