Instructor Spotlight:
Tom Englert is our lead HVAC instructor and has been a Rosedale Tech employee since March 2015. Tom brings over 40 years of field experience in the HVAC field and continues to run his own business while instructing full-time. Tom hopes to make a difference in the students’ lives going into the HVAC field. “It’s a great trade to get into!” he said.
Born into a military family, Tom grew up living in places all over the United States. Following his father’s footsteps, Tom served in the Navy for six years working on nuclear submarines as a machinery mate. Tom resides in Franklin Park with his wife and high school sweetheart, Kim. They have three children, a son and two daughters, and five grandchildren. In his spare time, Tom enjoys being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling.
Certifications: Universal EPA Certification
What made you decide to get into the trades?
My family couldn’t afford college so my father encouraged me to sign up for the Navy and learn HVAC.
What is something about you that a lot of people don’t know?
That I am very soft hearted and go out of my way to help all of my elderly customers from my HVAC business with whatever they need. And I love babies!
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your 18-year-old self?
Don’t drink and be more serious about the trades.
What was your first job?
It was shoveling horse manure when I was 14 at a stable making $1.40 an hour.
What is your dream vehicle?
I already have one, but I would like a brand new baby blue F350 dually pickup truck.
