Welcome to a transformative journey at Rosedale Technical College, where education transcends the boundaries of traditional learning. Beyond the technical skills and life-changing knowledge imparted within its walls, Rosedale Tech has fostered a nurturing environment that has unintentionally aided in the College becoming a catalyst for building lifelong connections and even unexpected love stories. This reflects the enduring impact Rosedale Tech has on both personal and professional lives. In this blog, we’ll share a few of the many love stories that have started at Rosedale Tech, which exemplify the extraordinary ways in which the College goes beyond education, fostering a sense of community and connection that extends far beyond the classroom.

Amanda (Boyle) Rivetti and Nick Rivetti’s love story began when they both began attending the automotive program in 2016 (Amanda in March and Nick in August).  Shortly into his program, Nick built up the courage to ask Amanda out on a first date, which Amanda shared was at Olive Garden.  Amanda remembers that she was sick with a cold for the date.  Little did Amanda and Nick know that this was the start of their forever.  Upon graduating from the automotive program, their relationship continued to grow.

On August 27, 2018, which was their dating anniversary, Nick proposed to Amanda on the beach at night in Ocean City, Maryland, with Amanda’s son, Amir, in attendance.  On April 6, 2019, the couple got married at Hopewell Park.  At the time, Amanda was 5 months pregnant with their daughter, Bria.

Nearing their 5th wedding anniversary, Amanda and Nick’s future goals include buying a house soon and growing their family with the addition of a dog.  Both Nick and Amanda are employed at Michael Brother’s Hauling.

Automotive graduates Lizzie Silassy and Nathan Gabel also began their love story in Rosedale Tech’s automotive technology program. Both started at Rosedale Tech in 2020, Nathan in February, and Lizzie in September. Lizzie shared that they had multiple classmates trying to get them together because everyone knew they liked one another despite the two of them being oblivious to the other’s feelings.

“After the persistence of our classmates to get us alone together, they used my bald tires during a snow storm as a way for Nate to take me home,” recalls Lizzie. “Nate was able to get my number by asking for notes on one of my favorite projects, the Nova. The day after Christmas that same winter, we had our first date, simple but beautiful. Dominos for dinner, good music, and just us two.”

Now in their 3rd year of dating, Lizzie and Nathan hope to buy a home together in the near future, start a family in the next few years and pass down their love for cars and the automotive field.  Lizzie shared that they originally planned to move down south together, but since their family, friends, and the Pittsburgh Penguins are all rooted in the Pittsburgh area, they will remain in the area for a while.  A hockey fanatic, Nathan has recently begun to teaching Lizzie about the sport.  Both Lizzie and Nathan plan to remain in the automotive field.

While Alysa Price-Smith and Ian Smith didn’t begin their love story until after graduating Rosedale Tech, they had the opportunity to get to know each other as classmates while attending the collision repair technology program.  Ian started in Rosedale Tech’s collision repair technology program in September 2019, and Alysa began attending in February 2020. While in the program, the couple were best friends and roommates.  Alysa mentioned that while living together, they realized that their relationship could be more than just a friendship.

In October 2022, exciting changes happened in their relationship.  Alysa shared that Ian had proposed in the living room of their apartment and a week later on October 25, they eloped at the courthouse.

“We took the day off work and then returned the very next day married!” said Alysa.

In 2023, Alysa and Ian purchased a home in hopes of growing their family and having a child.

“Maybe next Rosedale visit we’ll have a little Smith with us!” said Alysa.

Julia Watts and Joe Trombetta began their love story in the collision repair program in 2020.  Joe began at Rosedale in September 2019 and met Julia when she started in the program in May 2020. “Joey asked me out first, and one of our first dates was at the Point (we started dating during COVID so there wasn’t much we could go do at the time),” said Julia.  Since then, their relationship and their careers in collision repair have continued to thrive.

Now in their third year of dating, Julia and Joe’s relationship goals include buying a house together, having a nice garage for all the cars they will probably buy, getting married, and maybe having kids in the distant future.
