New and current Rosedale students who aspire to become Automotive Service or Collison Repair Technicians can apply for the popular #1 Cochran 6-month TECHcellence program.
Learn While You Earn
Students enrolled in the TECHcellence program can collect a part-time paycheck as they learn under the personal guidance of a professional certified technician. They’ll get hands-on experience in a fully-operational #1 Cochran facility as they are taught to use some of the most technologically-advanced equipment in the industry. Not only do students in the program get real-world experience in their chosen field, but they have the opportunity to become contributing members of the #1 Cochran team.
With 19 domestic and imported new car brands, over 30 service centers and 11+ Body by Cochran collision centers throughout the region, there is likely a #1 Cochran facility where students can earn and learn close to home. Students can request the brand and location that works best for them and #1 Cochran will do their best to accommodate their wishes. Want to Get Hired Upon Graduation?*
In many instances, students who demonstrate proficiency throughout the program can be offered a full-time job as a tech in one of #1 Cochran’s busy service or collision repair centers upon graduation. #1 Cochran is consistently voted a Pittsburgh Top Workplace in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette annual reader’s poll and already has many Rosedale Tech graduates among their team.
#1 Cochran techs receive highly-competitive pay and benefits, plus:
- $200 PER MONTH TOOL ALLOWANCE (For the first 12 months)
- $250 PER MONTH STUDENT LOAN ASSISTANCE (Up to $250 for 24 months, paid to lending institution)

The 6-month Techcellence Program:
Months 1-3

- Vehicle Check Sheets
- Repair Order Documentation
- Work Culture & Safety
- Flat-rate Systems & Efficiencies
Months 4-6
Participate in advanced skill building, including:
- Use of Special Tools & Scan Tools
- Warranty Processes & Procedures
- Vehicle Programming
- Customer Satisfaction
- Multipoint Inspections
