Hazmat Training: November 16, 2022
To obtain a hazmat endorsement, a truck driver must first pass a written exam that covers topics such as transportation of any hazardous material, emergency response, and security.
In addition, drivers must also pass a knowledge test that demonstrates their ability to safely operate a vehicle carrying hazmat materials. Once drivers have obtained a hazmat endorsement, they will be subject to additional regulations such as background checks and fingerprinting. These measures are necessary to ensure that drivers who carry hazmat materials are qualified and capable of doing so safely.
Once students have passed the test, they must then complete an Application for Security Threat Assessment and have their fingerprints taken in order to apply for a Federal Security Threat Assessment. PennDOT will need to receive federal approval from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) before issuing a Hazardous Material endorsement. The entire process can take up to 90 days.
Before registering to take this class, you must verify that you meet all the requirements to take the test. Please visit the PennDOT site for full details and requirements.
When registering for this class, you must provide your name exactly how it appears on your driver’s license.
The cost of this class is $200.00.
